Influence of Plasma Transferred Arc Remelting on Microstructure and Properties of PTAW-Deposited Ni-Based Overlay Coating

Although overlay coatings deposited via plasma transferred arc welding (PTAW) can effectively prolong the service life and improve performance of components, cracks pores tend to occur in high-hardness wear-resistant coating during deposition process. Further treatment is thus necessary quality. Herein, PTAW-deposited Ni-based was remelted using (PTA) under different remelting currents (RCs). The microstructure phase composition were investigated metallographic microscopy x-ray diffraction. hardness, surface quality, wear resistance also tested. results show that PTA could eliminate defects properties when RC controlled within a given interval (100-120 A). type content hard increased enhance microhardness resistance. However, with excessive resulted agglomeration growth phases, which negatively affected hardness proper use technology treat an effective approach for eliminating enhancing properties.
